The Rock Bridge baseball team lost 5-2 to Webb City in the Class 4 state quarterfinals on Wednesday afternoon in Webb City, putting an end to the Bruins' postseason run.

Bruins coach Justin Towe said the Bruins left nine men stranded on base in the game and failed to capitalize on a number of opportunities.

"We just didn't get the job done," Towe said by phone.

After defeating Helias Catholic 6-3 last Friday to win their second straight district title, the Bruins defeated Fort Zumwalt North 3-2 on Tuesday to advance to the quarterfinals of the state tournament.

Rock Bridge made it to the state semifinals last year before falling to Fort Zumwalt South, the furthest postseason appearance for the program.

Webb City advances to play Oakville in the semifinals on June 4 at Springfield's Meador Park.
