Rock Bridge's Kelsey Whittet scored in the seventh minute of overtime to push the Bruins girls soccer team to a 1-0 win over Nixa on Saturday in the Class 3 state quarterfinals in Waynesville. With the win, Rock Bridge will advance to the state semifinals Friday in St. Louis.

Whittet's goal was assisted with a crossing pass by Morgan Pitchford. Carrie Levey had five saves for the Rock Bridge shutout.

The Bruins advance to the semis with a 13-11-2 record and even coach Marc VanDover admits that it's been quite the thrill ride.

"Every game, our focus has been better," VanDover said.
