UPDATE: Man pulled from Stephens Lake confirmed dead

COLUMBIA — The man pulled from Stephens Lake on Monday evening has been identified as Jean Magabokenda, 35, according to Public Information Officer Jessie Haden of the Columbia Police Department.

Magabokenda was unresponsive when police arrived on the scene at 7:11 p.m. Monday, Haden said. He was taken to the University Hospital and pronounced dead at 7:37 p.m.  Magabokenda’s autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, according to the Boone County Medical Examiner.
