KANSAS CITY — Kansas City police were looking for a second explosive device Thursday three hours after someone ignited a first one in an alley blocks from the Sprint Center.

Grand Boulevard was shut down for two blocks as investigators used a robot to dig through a clothing donation box in a gas station parking lot.

Witnesses told The Kansas City Star a man borrowed a cigarette to light a device in an alley around 1 p.m. Policesaid witnesses then reported seeing the man drop something into the donation box in the gas station parking lot.

Policesaid Grand was blocked off from 16th to 18th streets because of concerns the man might have put an explosive into the donation box.
