SEDALIA — Authorities say a 9-year-old boy has died after he apparently became entangled in a rope swing while playing with his siblings at his home southeast of Sedalia.

A Pettis County Sheriff's Office report identified the boy as Charles Turner.

The Sedalia Democrat reported that the boy was pronounced dead Saturday morning at a Kansas City hospital.

The boy was found not breathing Friday afternoon. Sheriff Kevin Bond says his father and neighbor performed CPR until emergency responders arrived.

Bond says the death appears to be the result of a "tragic accident." But he says his office will continue the investigation.
