KASEYVILLE — A suburban Kansas City fisherman has died after the pedestal seat in his boat apparently broke, causing him to fall overboard.

The Missouri State Water Patrol identified the victim as 62-year-old Phillip Taylor of Excelsior Springs.

The accident happened Friday afternoon as Taylor was fishing from an anchored boat in Macon County's Thomas Hill Lake.

The patrol says witnesses called 911 after watching Taylor struggle and go underwater. His body was recovered about an hour later.

The patrol identified Taylor as a swimmer but said he wasn't wearing a personal flotation device.
