COLUMBIA — Columbia residents have the opportunity to meet the three candidates for Columbia Water & Light director.
An informal reception is scheduled for 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday in conference rooms 1A and B in Columbia City Hall, according to a release from the city. The candidates are:
- Tad A. Johnsen, the current power production superintendent of Columbia's Water & Light Department.
- Timothy G. Luchsinger, assistant utility director for Grand Island Utilities Department in Grand Island, Neb.
- Mack Thompson, the former vice president of American Municipal Power in Columbus, Ohio.
Community members will be able to voice their opinions on the three candidates with feedback forms available at the event.
Water & Light interim director Mike Schmitz will retire July 9. Schmitz took over for James "Kraig" Kahler, who resigned from the position Sept. 5, 2009, and who was later implicated in the Nov. 2009 murder of his family.
