Power for Boone County residents affected by storm

COLUMBIA — About 100 people whose electricity is provided by Boone Electric Cooperative in Columbia, Ashland and Sturgeon were without power early Tuesday afternoon, according to a spokeswoman for the cooperative.

Huntsdale was also affected, with 838 people experiencing a power outage at about 12:20 p.m. Power has been restored to most areas.

Vicki Kimna, spokeswoman for the cooperative, said she is not sure what the exact cause of the outage was, but said calls started coming in right after the rainstorm.

"It was probably a lightning strike," she said.
