Sewer and manhole maintenance to begin Monday

Friday, June 11, 2010 | 2:25 p.m. CDT

COLUMBIA — Two sewer and manhole maintenance projects are scheduled to begin Monday.

One is a routine sewer maintenance project that was assigned to the Public Works Sewer Utility. The sewer cleaning is scheduled to occur at:

  • College Avenue between Business Loop 70 East and Stadium Boulevard.
  • Broadway between College Avenue and Providence Road.
  • Providence Road between Broadway and Stadium Boulevard.

The other project involves manhole repairs along West Worley and Sexton Road. Ace Pipe Cleaning was hired to replace parts of existing manholes. Construction is expected to occur in some residential yards, but residents are already aware of the project.

The city expects temporary traffic delays, but public information specialist Jill Stedem doesn't anticipate the traffic being a major issue. Drivers are encouraged to take caution when driving through the construction areas.
