COLUMBIA — Downpours have prompted an urban and small stream flood advisory for central and southern Boone County until 5:30 p.m. Friday.

The National Weather Service, in an advisory issued at 11:48 a.m. Friday, said locations along Hinkson Creek downstream from Columbia can expect flooding.

Sanborn Field on the MU campus reported 1.81 inches of rain through noon Friday from the thunderstorms.

The Weather Service statement said the flood advisory "means river or stream flows are elevated or ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent."
