CAPE GIRARDEAU — A southeast Missouri man who wrapped himself in plastic before threatening to kill his wife was sentenced to five years of supervised probation.

Circuit Court Judge Benjamin F. Lewis on Monday granted 23-year-old Joshua D. Wright of Cape Girardeau a suspended sentence for a federal charge of unlawful use of a weapon. Wright also was given credit for time served for misdemeanor assault.

The Southeast Missourian reports that Wright was ordered to complete a rehabilitation program and an anger management class.

Wright's wife told police she found her husband wrapped in trash bags in March when she returned home in March. She said he told her he didn't want to get blood on himself when he killed her and showed her knives with the names of her and her ex-boyfriend written on them.
