COLUMBIA — Boone Hospital Center will be receiving an award Friday from the American Heart Association for excellence in stroke care.

The award, called the "Get With The Guidelines Stroke Gold Plus Performance Achievement Award," recognizes the hospital’s improvement in the treatment of strokes, according to the association’s website.

The hospital earned the award by complying with the association’s stroke guidelines over the past two years, a news release from the hospital said.

The award will be given out at 1 p.m. Friday in the Center for Advanced Medicine’s Cardiac Cath Lab lobby.
