MARSHALL — The state Water Patrol sent divers into a central Missouri creek to search for an 18-year-old man who was swept away while swimming.

About 30 people were involved Thursday in the search for Cory Gilliland in Salt Fort Creek.

Authorities said Gilliland and another Marshall teen were swept through a culvert Wednesday afternoon while swimming in the creek.

Police Chief Mike Donnell told The Marshall Democrat-News the second swimmer was rescued after getting caught up in a tree.
