LIBERTY — Clay County is rounding up men charged as deadbeat dads as Father's Day approaches.

The Kansas City Star reported that law enforcement officers went knocking on doors Friday morning serving warrants.

Thirty-eight of the 64 warrants that are being served are for people delinquent in their child support payments. People accused of selling illegal drugs also were being served.

Clay County Prosecutor Daniel White says it's important to let people know that failure to support your children is a criminal offense. He says the sweep "is a way to bring the message home."
