LETTER: Bins are better than bags for recycling

Wednesday, June 23, 2010 | 3:50 p.m. CDT

The city should change its recycling program. Bins are more practical and cheaper than buying blue bags, which use too much plastic.

We lived in Liberty during the 1980s and used the bins for recycling. The method was very successful there and we were surprised at the insufficient method of recycling here in Columbia.

Recycling is critical to the future of our country. It is a way that most of us can serve our country with very little cost and effort. Landfills are using up our land at an alarming rate. Instead of throwing stuff away, let's recycle (in bins) and use it again.
