COLUMBIA — Columbia police officers plan to look out for speeders, drivers not wearing seatbelts, impaired drivers and any reckless driving on the roads, a media release said.
The added patrol will begin at midnight Thursday and continue until midnight Friday. Enforcement will take place on Interstate 70.
Four Columbia police traffic officers plan to participate in the special traffic detail along with as many as eight more patrol officers and deputies from the Boone County Sheriff’s Department at any given time during the 24-hour time window, the release said. The extra enforcement is grant-funded through the Division of Highway Safety.
During last weekend's DWI saturation patrol, four DWI arrests were made.
