VAN BUREN — Jury selection is under way in the trial of a Poplar Bluff woman accused in a boating accident that killed two people and injured three others.

Radeena Proffer is charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter with a vessel, three counts of second-degree assault with a vessel and one count of endangering the welfare of a child.

The Poplar Bluff Daily American Republic reports that Proffer was involved in a two-boat collision on the Current River on July 5. The accident killed 25-year-old Josh Burson and 11-year-old Jerry Mote, both of Poplar Bluff.

Authorities say Proffer, who is 28, had a blood-alcohol content of 0.12. The legal limit is 0.08.
