Heat, humidity to return on Saturday

Friday, June 25, 2010 | 4:13 p.m. CDT

After a brief cool down, heat indexes were expected to range from 100 to 105 degrees on Saturday afternoon with temperatures in the low- to mid-90s and high humidity.

The National Weather Service on Friday afternoon issued a special weather statement for the Columbia area advising people with outdoor plans to take precautions.

A cold front forecast to make its way across the region Sunday evening will bring a chance for thunderstorms and signal another spell of cooler weather.
