Saturday, June 26, 2010 | 4:38 p.m. CDT
ARNOLD — A benefit is planned Sunday for a 26-year-old Marine from Arnold who became a quadruple amputee after stepping on an explosive in Afghanistan.
Cpl. Todd Nicely is recovering at Walter Reed Army Medical Center but plans to return home for 20 days in July.
His family says he still has most of his left arm but does not have his left hand. His left leg was removed below the knee, and his right leg was removed above the knee. He had a good portion of his upper right arm left.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the benefit will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will include a dedication by Mayor Ron Counts at the Arnold VFW Post 2593.
