LETTER: Arizona tackles problem that should be handled by president

Friday, July 2, 2010 | 11:04 a.m. CDT

President Barack Obama inherited many problems from the Bush administration.  However he is making one himself by bringing a lawsuit against Arizona.

He should be congratulating the state for helping with the work he should be doing to secure our borders. The border state should be suing the federal government for failing to stop drugs, prostitutes carrying diseases, uninspected cattle and possible dirty bombs from crossing our borders. This is a greater threat to our country than that from the Mideast, in which we are only creating more hate, wasting money and lives.

Many once great nations have fallen because of internal problems. Instead of sending only 1,200 troops to the border, the number should be 12,000 or more.

Obama may draw the Latino votes if he runs again but will lose the votes of those who are in favor of the Arizona law. If you want to save our country from the Mexico invasion, please contact the Obama administration and tell them how you feel, as our government officials only know two things: money and votes.

In closing, please remember the Alamo.

Matters concerning legal and illegal immigration are matters of NATIONAL policy, not just in the United States but in all civilized countries. This does not imply that individual states shouldn't feel welcome to voice concerns or make recommendations concerning policy. They can even introduce legislation through their representatives in Congress.

Arizona's CARDINAL SIN in passing legislation is that in doing so it showcased how BANKRUPT both the legislative and executive branches of the federal government have been in dealing with the situation. How dare Arizona show the feds up for the disaster the feds are!

The issue is not the Arizona law. The issue is how and when is the federal government going address the situation.
