JEFFERSON CITY — Authorities think he acted in self-defense, but a Jefferson City man who shot an intruder during a home robbery has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge.

The Jefferson City News Tribune reported Friday that Jose Arnulfo Salgado-Guitierrez pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of a shooting. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail.

Authorities say he shot Lamar Gardner, of Kansas City, during a botched robbery last October at a trailer park near Jefferson City.

Salgado-Guitierrez eventually came forward and said he had fired the shot.

He is scheduled to go to trial next month in federal court on a separate drug charge.
