LAKE OZARK — A 5-year-old Missouri boy who authorities say was taken from his father last weekend at gunpoint has been found safe in New Mexico, and two suspects are on the run after fleeing from and firing at police.

St. Louis' KSDK-TV reports that an uncle of Devon Denman says the boy was found near Gallup, N.M., and is in good condition.

State police there say the boy was found in a stolen car that a trooper tried to stop early Monday for having a faulty headlight. The car sped off, and an ensuing chase topped speeds of 100 mph before police deflated the car's tires.

At least one suspect fired at police, and he and another adult passenger fled on foot.

Police say the boy had been taken from his father by gunpoint Saturday by his mother and her boyfriend in Lake Ozark. The father was awarded custody of the boy last week.
