COLUMBIA — Boone County Presiding Commissioner Ken Pearson openly expressed his support this Tuesday for Scott Christianson as his successor, according to a news release.
Both men are Democrats.
Pearson presently oversees the County Commission and has held his position for four years.
Christianson heralded Pearson as someone whose work he would like to follow.
"He has brought a new level of professional management to the office of preceding commissioner," Christianson said in a news release.
Likewise, Pearson had much praise for his hopeful successor. He also outlined specific duties that must be met for the incoming commissioner.
"Simply put, we need a commissioner who will work tirelessly for the best interests of the county — a person we can trust to manage costs, streamline government and continue to improve our roads and services," Pearson said. "I think Scott Christianson is that person."
The two men have collaborated on several boards. Pearson is the Commission's liaison to the Boone County Industrial Development Authority, of which Christianson is the president.
They also work together on the Boone County Citizen's Task Force for Postsecondary Adult and Technical Education and Training.
