CARUTHERSVILLE — A southeast Missouri man is jailed amid accusations that he tried to poison his girlfriend and her two small children.

Caruthersville police told the Sikeston Standard Democrat that the 19-year-old suspect became angry at his girlfriend and put bleach in ice trays and lemonade in her refrigerator.

Neither the woman nor her children were injured. The man was arrested for first-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child, but his name was not released pending filing of formal charges.
