Outgoing Sen. Bond faces friendly fire at roast

Thursday, July 15, 2010 | 9:36 a.m. CDT

COLUMBIA — Retiring U.S. Sen. Kit Bond won't escape public service completely unscathed before he leaves Washington after 24 years.

The Republican senator and former Missouri governor will be the target of a July 24 celebrity roast in Columbia. Among those scheduled to toss jabs at Bond are former Missouri Congressman Kenny Hulshof, one-time Bond staff member Annie Presley and University of Missouri agriculture dean Tom Payne.

Tickets cost $100 and benefit the mid-Missouri chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. Former state lawmaker Joe Moseley, a Democrat, will serve as master of ceremonies.
