COLUMBIA — Two men were arrested in connection with a report of shots fired Sunday night at Douglass Park, according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department.

Maurice D. Penny, 26, of Columbia, was arrested on suspicion of unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action. Deundrea L. Woods, 17, of Columbia, was arrested on the same charges.

Witnesses told police that two men were arguing, and then both fired handguns, according to the news release. Police responded at about 10:30 p.m.

No injuries were reported, and shell casings were found near the pavilion in the park. The guns have not yet been found.

Investigators are working on the case to determine if it is related to earlier shots fired incidents.
