GRAY SUMMIT — Nestle Purina is unveiling its new, 84,000-square-foot Purina Event Center this week with help from some special guests — a half-dozen former "Best in Show" winners at the Westminster dog show.

The St. Louis-based pet food company began building the $10 million arena in April 2009. It's located in Gray Summit, about 40 miles west of St. Louis.

The champion dogs scheduled to attend Wednesday's opening include 2010 winner Sadie the Scottish terrier, 2009 winner Stump the Sussex spaniel, and 2008 winner Uno the beagle. Also expected are 2007 winner James, an English springer spaniel; 2006 winner Rufus, a colored bull terrier; and 2001 winner J.R., a bichon frise (bee-shohn-free-ZAY').

The company says all six dogs eat Purina Pro Plan dog food.
