COLUMBIA — A 31-year-old homeless man is accused in Columbia of spraying Mace at several people, including his ex-girlfriend and their 11-month-old son.

Police arrested Pedro M. Nenninger on Thursday evening after witnesses chased him from a city park and helped officers find him at a convenience store.

He was being held Friday in the Boone County Jail on $100,000 cash bond. It was not clear if he had a lawyer, and efforts to contact him were unsuccessful.

Witnesses told police Nenninger came to Stephens Lake Park looking for his ex-girlfriend and demanded she hand over the baby. The witnesses said the woman refused and Nenninger sprayed Mace, hitting the baby and several bystanders with the chemical.
