LEASBURG — An eastern Missouri man has died in a cliff-jumping accident at the Big Eddy along the Meramec River.

The Missouri State Water Patrol identified the victim as Jonathon Garcilaso.

The patrol said the 29-year-old Union man struck his head around 5 p.m. Saturday while jumping off the Crawford County cliff and didn't resurface. A park ranger recovered his body around 6:50 p.m. in about 5 feet of water. Garcilaso was not wearing a flotation device.
