Sobriety checkpoint nets 28 arrests

COLUMBIA —Police arrested nine individuals for suspicion of driving while intoxicated Friday night during a sobriety checkpoint.

The Boone County Sheriff's and Hallsville Police Departments stopped roughly 299 vehicles in the 200 block of Old Plank Road in Columbia, according to a Sheriff's Department news release.

In addition to the DWI arrests, police made arrests for:

  • Fifteen adult liquor law violations.
  • One count of driving with a suspended or revoked license.
  • One count of possession of fake identification.
  • Two Zero Tolerance violations.

Sheriff's Department deputies made two additional DWI arrests after conducting the checkpoint, bringing the total to 11.
