Labor Day affects city services

Tuesday, August 31, 2010 | 6:06 p.m. CDT; updated 7:43 p.m. CDT, Tuesday, August 31, 2010

In recognition of Labor Day, all Columbia city offices will be closed Monday.

  • The administrative offices for both police and fire departments will be closed, but emergency services will remain active.
  • Garbage will not be picked up and service will be pushed back by one day throughout the week. Garbage normally placed out on Tuesday, for example, will be collected instead on Wednesday.
  • The sanitary landfill will also be closed.
  • Buses will not run on the holiday, and parking meter regulations will not be enforced.
