PLATTE CITY — A Platte City alderman was charged with second-degree sexual misconduct Tuesday.

A woman accused 58-year-old Charles Cook of exposing himself earlier this month to a woman while he was driving her home from work. According to court records, Cook was driving the woman home from a Platte City grocery store Aug. 19 when he made a sexually suggestive remark and exposed himself.

Prosecutors say the woman rejected Cook's advances, and he drove her home. She called police about two hours later.

The First Ward alderman could face up to six months in jail and a fine up to $500 if convicted.

Court records indicated Cook had not yet hired an attorney.
