Hickman softball team edged in extra innings

Tuesday, August 31, 2010 | 11:53 p.m. CDT

The Hickman softball team lost 5-4 in nine innings Tuesday at Southern Boone.

With the score tied at 3-3, Hickman's Andrea Drake hit a solo home run in the top of the ninth to put the Kewpies ahead. However, the Eagles used a pair of singles, a sacrifice bunt and a double to score two runs in the bottom of the inning to claim the victory.

Hickman had tied the game with two out in the sixth when Sydney Washington doubled in a run and another scored on an error. The seventh and eighth innings went scoreless.

The loss drops the Kewpies to 4-3.
