COLUMBIA — Missouri senior outside hitter Paola Ampudia earned Big 12 Player of the Week honors, freshman setter Molly Kreklow was named Big 12 Rookie of the Week and senior libero Caitlyn Vann claimed Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week.
The Player of the Week award was the second of Ampudia’s two-year career at MU. Her first award came after her school-record 35 kills against Kansas in 2009. She had 50 kills in three matches this weekend in Malibu, Calif., which pushed her to first overall in kills per set in the Big 12.
This was the second straight week that Kreklow has won Big 12 Rookie of the Week honors. She had 136 assists in the three matches over the weekend, including a career-best 52 against Pepperdine. Her 47 assists against Rice were the most at MU for a three-set match in the 25-point set era.
Vann’s Defensive Player of the Week award was the fourth of her MU career. She had 62 digs in the three matches and did not miss any of her 44 serve receives against Pepperdine.
