Hickman softball team wins

COLUMBIA — The Hickman softball team beat Kirksville 9-2 on Tuesday at home.

Allison Tonyan was the winning pitcher and improved to 5-1 on the season, allowing just three hits in seven innings.

Sydney Washington and Karley Mirts led the offense. Washington was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, two runs scored and a stolen base, and Mirts was 2-for-3 with a run.

Mirts had a key sacrifice bunt in the fourth inning that brought in Washington from third in a tight play that put the Kewpies (6-4) ahead 6-2.
