LICKING — A former Boone County man serving a life sentence for killing his infant daughter and leaving her body in a garbage can has died in prison.

Officials at the South Central Correctional Center in Licking say 45-year-old Willie Prother was pronounced dead Tuesday at Texas County Memorial Hospital.

KXEO reports that an autopsy will be performed to determine a cause of death.

Prother was arrested in May 1995 after his 10-month-old daughter's body was found strapped in a car seat and placed in trash can in Columbia. Investigators said at the time that the baby suffocated and probably was choked by hand.
