COLUMBIA — The Rock Bridge girls golf team, led by senior Meghan Mueller’s even-par 36, captured a 21-stroke victory over Hickman and Jefferson City in a match on Wednesday at The Club at Old Hawthorne in Columbia.
Rock Bridge’s team score of 167 was 20 strokes better than the one they posted at last week’s match with Helias Catholic and Moberly.
Hickman was second Wednesday with 188, and Jefferson City shot 227.
“Considering the type of course Old Hawthorne is, you have to be smart what you are hitting and where you are hitting,” Bruins coach Melissa Melahn said. “We obviously did that much better than we did last week.”
The win on Wednesday followed the team’s win at the 11-team Blue Springs South Tournament on Tuesday.
Rock Bridge defeated last year’s state champions, Notre Dame de Sion, among nine other schools in a best-ball tournament with a team score of 250.
The Bruins next event will be the Smith-Cotton Tournament on Sept. 13 in Sedalia.
