Boone County under flash flood watch

Wednesday, September 15, 2010 | 9:22 a.m. CDT

A flash flood watch was posted for Boone and adjacent counties from noon Wednesday through Thursday morning.

The National Weather Service forecast widespread rainfall of 1 to 2 inches, with higher amounts locally.

Storms in Kansas that were beginning to move into Missouri at mid-morning Wednesday were forecast to interact with a cold front later Wednesday and Wednesday night, resulting in thunderstorms with heavy rain.

"The excessive rainfall could lead to flash flooding of area creeks and streams," the Weather Service advised.
