The Hickman High School football team emerged victorious from its first road test of the season, edging Hannibal 17-14 Friday night.
Trailing 8-3 at halftime, the Kewpies picked up a score early in the second half when Logan Fitch found Wesley Leftwich for a 50-yard catch-and-run that gave Hickman a 10-8 advantage.
After a Pirate touchdown and failed two-point conversion, Dylan Rodes hauled in a pass from Fitch on the ensuing drive to put the Kewpies ahead for good.
Rodes also snagged an interception with two minutes remaining to seal the game for Hickman, which improved to 3-1 with the win. The Kewpies return to action at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24 for their homecoming game vs. Helias.
