COLUMBIA — The Columbia 3M plant will be working with the city on a MKT Trail restoration project.

Bill Moore, plant manager of 3M, was scheduled to present a $40,000 check to the city at the Monday night City Council meeting.

The money will be used to restore areas along the trail between the trail heads at Stadium and Forum boulevards and to reintroduce native plant species.

“3M funds a number of programs where they do business,” Moore said. “The project will increase biodiversity and opportunities for citizen volunteering. This project will also open up natural areas for public enjoyment.”
