JEFFERSON CITY — A state commission is scheduled to consider a request to expand a quarry in southeast Missouri.

The Missouri Land Reclamation Commission will decide at its meeting Thursday whether to grant a request for a formal hearing on the permit application in Cape Girardeau County.

Strack Excavation submitted the application to expand its quarry boundary by four acres.

The state Department of Natural Resources said in a news release Wednesday that the commission also will discuss mine permitting, reclamation activities and mining enforcement at the meeting in Jefferson City.
