Columbia residents and MU students check out the Victoria Secret PINK sale on Thursday. The event featured the new Mizzou collegiate and holiday collections. Prize giveaways, games and promotions were also part of the event.

COLUMBIA — The truck called for women to “Join the PINK Nation.” And they did.

Hundreds of female MU students lined up outside a pink Airstream trailer on Thursday at Tiger Fountain, waiting patiently to purchase their selected Victoria’s Secret PINK Mizzou products.

Items for sale at the pop-up shop included PINK tees and lounge pants with new collegiate designs for MU that are not yet in stores.

PINK’s collegiate collection has gone on tour for three years.

Students formed a Facebook petition last year to get MU added to PINK’s collegiate collection. This is the first year the collection has visited MU.

MU is PINK’s third stop in the tour this year, PINK Campus and Events Marketing Representative Sara Gaul said..

By 1:30 p.m., about 700 people had stopped by the pop-up shop, she said.

Some students heard of the event through friends, others through a Facebook group promoting Victoria’s Secret PINK Mizzou line.

Samantha Bhambri, a freshman education major, heard about the event through friends. She is a big fan of PINK and says 25 percent of her closet consists of PINK clothes.

Morgan Steele, a sophomore education major, was walking past the Tiger fountain when she saw the PINK bus.

“I like it, but I don’t buy very much of it,” she said.

There were even a few guys shopping for their girlfriends.

The new PINK Mizzou collection will be in stores on Oct. 12.
