JEFFERSON CITY — The president of a wireless phone company has been named to a Missouri higher education board.

Gov. Jay Nixon on Friday appointed Kathryn Swan to another term on the state Coordinating Board for Higher Education. Swan is a Republican from Cape Girardeau and is the president of JCS Wireless.

The coordinating board has one representative from each of Missouri's nine congressional districts. The board helps to oversee the Department of Higher Education.

Swan's most recent appointment would run through 2016 but must be confirmed by the Senate when it resumes its sessions.
