COLUMBIA – The Columbia Cougars soccer team defeated Friends University (Kan.) 1-0 Saturday and improved to 4-3 on the season.

Junior Edgar Reyna again was the difference, scoring his second game-winning goal in as many games. Reyna finished a Hutchison cross in the 32nd minute, giving the Cougars all the offense they needed.

Senior goalkeeper Ken Searles earned his 4th shutout of the year.

Conference play begins for the Cougars next Wednesday at home against Harris-Stowe University.
