Rock Bridge volleyball falls just short of tournament championship

The Rock Bridge volleyball team finished 2nd in the 12-team Camdenton Tournament Saturday, losing in the championship match to Kearney High School.

After dropping only one set in their first five matches of the tournament, the Bruins were swept in the championship match, 21-25, 21-25. 

Niki Collier and Nici Thaler of Rock Bridge were named to the all-tournament team.

The Bruins swept Sacred Heart, St. Clair and Parkview twice, including once in the semifinals. They needed three sets to beat Jefferson City.

The tournament helped improve the Bruins record to 16-5-2. Rock Bridge will return to the court on Monday when they face East St. Louis at home at 7 p.m.
