St. Charles County says no to bike ban
Two other proposals under consideration
Tuesday, September 28, 2010 | 8:00 a.m. CDT
ST. CHARLES — The St. Charles County Council has defeated a proposal to ban bicycles on some roads.
The council on Monday denied Councilman Joe Brazil's plan to prohibit bikes for some sections of two-lane highways. Brazil had said bikes on those roads are a hazard to both the bicyclists and drivers.
KMOX Radio reports that the council did agree to consider two other proposals. One would require a permit for large cycling events. The other would color-code certain roads to let bike riders know how dangerous they are.
