PHOTO GALLERY: Roots 'N' Blues 'N' BBQ kicks off

Mike Whiteley, owner of Lonnie Ray's BBQ in Harrisburg, tends to baby back ribs in his smoker near Fourth and Cherry streets on Friday. Lonnie Ray's wasn't competing in the barbecue contest but was selling food, including hand-made tamales, pulled pork, bologna and ribs.

Take a look at what happened Friday night at the Roots 'N' Blues 'N' BBQ festival.

Earlier this year, Wayne hiked form Nashville to Phoenix to raise awareness for homeless youths and drum up support for foster systems. Wayne himself was a foster child. He thanked the family that took him in for inspiring him to get through college.
Volunteers Lilliard Lisa, and Blake Richardson eat barbecue and chips on Friday. Food is a large part of the festival, and on Saturday 16 teams will compete in the festival's barbecue competition.
