BOONE COUNTY — A single-car accident blocked traffic near the intersection of Highway WW and South Olivet Road in Boone County on Saturday afternoon.

The accident occurred when the driver of an eastbound Honda Accord ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected and lost control. The car overturned and skidded about 50 or 60 feet, Sgt. Chris Harris of the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

"It came to rest on its top smack dab in the middle of both lanes of Highway WW," Harris said. Traffic was blocked for about 25 minutes.

Most of the damage to the car was incurred on the passenger side, where the windshield was shattered and the roof was dented. The driver’s side of the car was not severely damaged.

The driver, a 17-year-old female who attends Rock Bridge High School, was not injured.
