Columbia College volleyball team nets seventh AMC win

The Columbia College volleyball team swept Park 25-18, 25-17, 25-20 on Tuesday night in Parkville to improve to 19-2 overall and 7-0 in American Midwest Conference play.

Vesna Trivunovic led the Cougars offense with 12 kills in 27 attempts. Kelly Corkum and Ola Shawky each had seven kills, and Paula Ferreira had 27 assists and six kills. Tally Mattos posted 11 digs.

Columbia College jumped up one spot in this week’s NAIA top 25 ranking, from No. 8 to No. 7. 

Cougars setter Paula Ferreira was named the AMC Volleyball Player of the week.  Ferreira led Columbia to a 4-0 record last week, handing out 111 assists, posting 22 kills, 17 digs, six service aces and five assist blocks. It is the second time in five weeks Ferreira earned the honor.
