BOULDER, Colo. — Colorado freshman running back Justin Torres has left the team.
Coach Dan Hawkins said Torres, who ran 14 times for 58 yards in Colorado's 3-1 start, returned to his home in La Mirada, Calif.
Hawkins said Torres was dealing with personal issues but left open the possibility he'll return to the program.
Torres' departure Tuesday came as a surprise to coaches and teammates, who said he seemed to be well-adjusted to campus life as late as Monday.
Redshirt freshman Quentin Hildreth of Denver will move into the No. 3 slot at tailback behind Rodney Stewart and Brian Lockridge, and Hawkins said freshman Cordary Allen will make the trip to Missouri on Saturday as the emergency tailback.
